Spring Cleanup

So the winter is over and now comes the cleanup. On Friday April 17, Carrie, Cam and I headed for the cottage. We had arrived quite early for us around 7:30pm or so. Carrie raked a bit while Cam rode his bike around in the driveway. I fired up the power and turned on the water for the summer. I let the water run down the hill a for about an hour or so to clean it up a bit. Then went inside to open the valves, fill the water heater, and get the air out of the lines. Once that was all set, we put Cam to bed and watched a little TV before settling in ourselves.

Saturday we woke to 50 degrees and sunny. It was going to be a great day. Our plan was to drop me along with the 2 snowmobiles and one four wheeler at my Dad's for the day while Cam and Carrie went and visited some friends from Conserve School. I loaded up the toys and headed for my dad's. Once there, we unloaded everything and Cam and Carrie took off for Eagle River to meet up with Sarah and Riya.

Dad and I changed the oil, greased, changed idler wheels, and generally summerized the snowmobiles. We also changed the oil in the 4 wheeler so we were all set for summer. That took about 8 hours to complete. It was a good day to spend working on the snowmobiles.

Meanwhile in Eagle River, the clan went to the Eagle River Childrens Museum and then off to lunch at Pizza Hut in ER. Once they were done there, they headed for a playground for a bit and then back over to my Dad's to pick me up. Cam had a great time and was good all day.

Saturday once we were back at the cottage, I put the battery back in Cam's little Eton 50 so he could ride a bit. He did great this year. He is much better at paying attention to what is in front of him rather than what is behind. He loved making turns and doing skids going down the driveway. The lights also really make his day as he can turn them on and off as he pleases. I unloaded the trailer as it was to rain overnight and got everything in the garage. Went to 10 Point for dinner with Grandma and Grandpa and payed as a thank you for helping me all day.

Sunday rolls around and it is a steady rain. Cam still wanted to ride his ATV, so he suited up and went out to it. He rode most of the morning and did well to a point where I did not have to supervise him all the time but would check on him from time to time. Carrie and I moved all the summer stuff to the front of the garage and the winter stuff to the back. Boat is almost ready for the water - just need to get the batterys in and started. Atv's are all ready to go. Trailer is all ready to go Atving, and the snowmobiles are in the back of the garage.

Left the cottage about 12:30 on sunday and had rain the whole way home. Thank goodness for RainX.

A good start to the summer fun.
