I took off for up north on Sunday May 16 to get a few things done. I left around 4:00am and headed for Land O Lakes first to help some friends put in thier pier. I arrived around 8:45. The weather was sunny and no wind. I got into the waders and we had the pier in by about 10 or so. Off I was heading south to the cottage. I wound my way down Hwy B right past our old stomping grounds.
Once to the cottage I got to work mowing the lawn. That took about an hour or so. Next up was getting the boat out to take a look at why all the lower unit gear lube came out over the winter. I ended up refilling the lower unit and swapping the upper and lower plugs. The lube was definitely coming from the plug on the bottom which was good as there were no cracks. I hooked the motor to the hose and got it going. I was surprised how quick it started. Once that was all cleaned up, I headed for a late lunch at Ten Point. Back to the cottage to change the oil in the ATV and fix my dads laptop.
I ended up leaving around 3:45 or so. I had to go toward Stratford to stop by Chad and Jeneens to check out there new place. Chad gave me the grand tour of the lodge there along with all the land that have access to. I stayed for a few hours and headed home from there but not before stopping at the Polaris dealer to look at a few Polaris RZR's.
Back home about 9:30 or so for dinner and then to bed. 584 miles round trip on 12 gallons of gas. A few memorable parts were both near Clintonville on Hwy 45. First is that I saw a bear in a field. I havent seen one in just about 6 years even with living up there so that was a cool sight. The other was a sign outside a church that read "Party in hell cancelled due to fire". It made me laugh.
