We went for about 2 hours before discovering that there were a few bolts that had fallen out on the way on RZR. So back to the truck we went and straight to town to get a few new ones. Once home, we hung out for a bit until Spencer and Sarah arrived for a quick visit. A few hours had gone by and they took off. I mowed the lawn, made dinner, had a few beers with Carrie and off to bed.
Saturday I had to get to my dad's to get the RZR fixed. We all headed over there while Cam rode around on his ATV, dad and I fixed the issue. From there back home to change and head to the Mirek's for our annual 4th of July celebration. We boated, swam, drank a few more beers, ate way to much, and had a great time.
Sunday I wanted to figure out what was wrong with the lights in the garage as they were popping the breaker non-stop. Issue found with a wire that I had broken but that took 2 hours. Just about that time, it started to rain a bit. We ate lunch and relaxed a bit while it rained. Around 2 or so, we decided to go geocaching in the rain. We all put our slickers on and headed out in Old Blue a dirt ridin' we were going.
We ended up finding 6 caches all within about 15 minutes of our house. We came home wet for sure and with a really muddy truck. Our plan was to launch the boat, watch the waterski show, and then watch the fireworks from the boat, but the rain ended up winning and they canceled it all. We ended up going to dinner instead.
Monday we got the boat out and headed to West Horsehead Lake which is about 5 minutes from our house. We putted out to a spot on that looked good and started fishing. Cam was catching them on worms so we all changed our setups to bobber fishing. In our first spot, we were getting a lot of smaller panfish but we could catch them about every 30 seconds so Cam loved it.
We moved to find another spot and anchored again. Here is where we caught all our keepers. We caught everything from crappies, gills, largemouth, and a few keeper perch. We went home with about 10 keepers and caught about 100 fish total. The only reason we left is because we ran out of bait. Home to clean fish and pack up for home.
It was a great weekend to be up north.
